Discover the advanced techniques of Shibori with indigo and color in this hands-on course at Better Than Jam's Store & Studio. Learn how to balance a vat that's already been started and used, and explore more difficult techniques such as Tatsumaki, Miura, Yanagi, and Kumo. Unleash your creativity and master the art of Nui, a beginner stitch resist.
Join us in an exploration of natural indigo. We will explore resist dyeing techniques and have the opportunity to dip dye yarn from the farm. Families can bring their own clothing and fabric to dye blue as well, but they must be made up of natural fibers (cotton, linen, silk or wool).
Families are encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy it on the farm before or after the session! Two sessions will be offered, 11-12 and 12:30-1:30.
About Browder's Farm
Browder's Birds Farm is a Certified Organic & Pasture-Raised poultry farm on the North Fork of Long Island raising chickens, ducks, turkeys and a flock of Cotswold sheep. Holly and Chris started the farm in 2009 after being inspired by the local food movement to leave the city and start a sustainable farm. Cotswold is a heritage breed of sheep recognized by the Livestock Conservancy.
