If you’ve always wanted to try pottery but never had the chance, this class is for you. Perfect for complete beginners, you’ll learn the basics of pottery wheel making in the heart of New York City, guided by an experienced instructor. By the end of the class, you will have been introduced to the fundamentals of wheel-throwing and pottery techniques.
What You'll Learn
How to use pottery space, tools, and equipment effectively.
Pottery techniques like coning, centering, and pulling.
How to work with clay to create your own piece at the wheel.
The basics of pottery terminology to help you understand the process.
How to choose a glaze for your piece.
Supplies and Materials
All materials are provided for you, including clay and tools to work with.
You will be able to keep one piece, which will be fired and glazed for you.
Choose from available glaze colors: green, blue, black, white, and red.
Additional Notes
No prior experience is required—this class is beginner-friendly and perfect for those new to pottery.
This is a crash course, and students are encouraged to be open-minded about their final creations.
The class includes 15 minutes for clean-up.
Finished pieces will be ready for pick-up one week after class. You will have a 14-day grace period to pick up your work, with all pieces “expiring” three weeks after your class date.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, tie your hair back, and trim your nails before the session. Jewelry should be removed from your hands and wrists.
No refunds, but can reschedule if student notifies us more than 24 hours before class.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
