Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this beginner photography class:

In this beginner photography class you will spend three hours learning an extraordinarily intuitive way of using your camera. No memorization or note taking is allowed. Rather than learning through cramming a lot of information into your head and trying to regurgitate it later, you’ll learn through doing the exercises and through JP’s approachable and engaging teaching style.

Most beginner photographers spend a lot of time staring at their cameras wondering what all the buttons and dials do. JP will demystify your camera for you so that you’re no longer staring down at your camera but, instead, you’ll be able to focus much more on the world around you so that you can really capture those magical once-in-a-lifetime moments.

JP will cover topics like exposure (which will explain why none of your sunset pictures ever come out the way you want them to), aperture (so you can get a blurry background whenever you want it) and shutter speed (so that you can create some amazing motion blur shots that will look spectacular).

Prerequisite:
None

This class requires that you have a digital camera that allows you to manually set the aperture and shutter speed.

Refund Policy

2 business days prior to the class start time is required for cancellation and/or rescheduling.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.

This was a great class for beginners. When taking this course be mindful that this course is designed to answer all of your beginner questions. A lot of people come with pre existing knowledge and that can be distracting or confusing to the majority of the class who is not as technically savvy. The class is very well structured and meant to guide, so trust the teacher (JP), he’s really well mannered and super helpful.

I've taken other rank beginning camera classes and this one was just infinitely better than the others. I feel like - for the first time - I'm really going to be able to retain and use what I learned, without all of the jargon and memorization. Loved the class. Will be taking the follow ups as well.

Loved this class. JP was concise with a great deal of information and made it easy to understand. I learned more in this three hour class than I did in a two day workshop taken elsewhere. Very hands on and practical. Will definitely take other classes that JP offers.

Lydia was a great teacher and gave great instruction. I feel more confident about using my camera and beginning photography. 1 star off because I was under the impression this would be a small class but there were around 30 students, which was handled well, but it felt a little crowded and required some patience and maneuvering during the exercises.

Lydia was great! I learned so much about my camera, and because of this class I've started playing on different modes I hadn't tried before. I'm a novice but the class also had people who were already working photographers in it as well. I'm feeling a lot more confident, definitely worth taking!
