Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this abstract painting class:

This course will be taught as a series of individual conversations on approaches to experimental painting.

In other words, students will sit down with the instructor individually, discuss the history of their work and explore new methods of experimentation with respect to medium, subject matter and process. The course will end with a group discussion and critique. Depending on the nature of the work, students are encouraged to work at a comfortable scale, consistent with the timeframe. For example, if a student works quickly, then they are encouraged to prepare a series of canvases to proceed with. However, a student could also work on a single image or painting during this timeframe as well.
