What you'll learn in this art tour class:

This tour will feature the top shows from Chelsea's 300 galleries - the world's center for contemporary art! It will be our most extraordinary tour of the entire month, in any gallery area. Our director, with a Ph.D. in arts education, visits all current exhibits and selects the 7 most extraordinary for you to see. At each stop there will be an explanation of the artwork and then lively discussion. Be sure to arrive early or on time, so that the tour doesn’t leave without you. All sales are final, and tickets are valid only on the date for which it was purchased. Tours take place no matter the temperature or weather, as the art is all indoors.

Question from Lori D.
How long is the tour?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Lori, the tour is for two hours.
Question from Valeria D.
Hello, we are 8 women from Argentina , Rafael speaks Spanish??
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Valeria! Rafael Risemberg was born in Cordoba, Argentina, but when he 4 years old his family moved to the U.S. in a non-Spanish speaking area, so he lost his Spanish-speaking ability. However, he understands some Spanish, particularly the accent and dialect of Argentinian Spanish. So during the tour, you can speak to him in Spanish, though he'll have to reply in English.
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
The tour itself will have to be conducted in English, as the others on the tour will be English-speaking. But your group can talk to him while walking between exhibits, and even in the galleries themselves when his not lecturing.

As a third time visitor to NYC this was my first visit to Chelsea. I was very pleased with the tour and the knowledge of our guide Rafael Rosenberg. The tour was planned by a friend and most likely is not something I would have found on my own. The afternoon spent in Chelsea was one of the highlights of my trip. I will most definitely do another tour my next time in New York.

This was an excellent way to explore and understand the New York commercial art market and to see a very interesting and diverse group of artists. The tour is conducted by a knowledgable and entertaining guide. I would definitely recommend this tour to others visiting or living in New York.

The tour was awesome. In fact, I’m quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Pace and length of the tour were perfect and I loved getting Rafael’s perspective/interpretation on the art. Definitely have a new appreciation for some of this contemporary art. Already thinking of my next tour(s)! Thank you.
