Choose high polished, or create an oxidized look, or a brushed finish in the metal. A great introduction to the jewelry metals studio – everything you need is provided.

Students should wear clothing that they don't mind getting a little messy (you most likely won't get dirty in class but just in case). Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil, their ideas and some sketches.

Question from Anonymous
This class is making a set of rings. Meaning 2 rings? Can I and my husband both work on the 1 seat?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! In the Ring Making Intensive, each person makes a sterling silver ring - with a choice of hammer texture, oxidized, brushed or high-polish finish. Most students make a pair of thin bands (as time allows), but some opt to make a single wider band instead. So each person leaves with at least one finished ring, and often two - depending on the choice of their choice of width of the band. Wider bands take longer to fabricate.

Question from anonymous
Will we be learning stamping in this class?
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! In this class you will learn to make a sterling silver ring from start to finish - you will be learning to make the correct size, how to form a ring band, soldering, and polishing. You will be looking at options for high polish, brushed finish, as well as hammer texturing and oxidizing to create an alternative antique look.
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! The school is not sure what do you mean by "stamping" but they are guessing that you might just mean using letter and number stamps? They do have a basic set, it is optional if students want to use them. Jewelry stamping, however - as in used widely in Native American jewelry, they will not be delving into in this workshop.

Question from Anonymous
Can we bring scrap gold and make gold rings instead of silver?
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! No, this class we will not be able to work with gold. The school offers a special workshop for students who want to make a gold ring. You can contact the school to schedule if you would like to! Alternatively, the silver ring making is great warm up and practice for making rings, many people do this before booking a private session to get a feel for working in the studio and using the tools and experimenting with design. Hope this helps!

I love the classes at Liloveve! I learned so much in the Ring Making Intensive and came out with two beautiful, handmade rings. The intensives are also great because you don't need to bring any materials or tools, they're provided in the class fee.

When you first get there, it's a little confusing because the outside is not clearly labeled and it just looks like a regular brownstone building. But once you ring the door and go inside, it's a really cute studio with two floors. Each person gets their own desk, complete with sets of tools to share. Erica was our teacher and she did a really good job of helping each and every one of us, while still allowing us to do it ourselves. I really enjoyed this class and got three rings out of it! I would definitely recommend this class if you're interested in doing something different. I've never worked with jewelry before but Erica made it super easy to learn!

It was so great! My only wish was that it was a bit longer in time.

The Instructor presented the course well by explaining each facet of the ring making process, step by step he guided us throughout the entire time. We produced two ring bands. This was a well coodinated couse, I certainly enjoyed it.
