These new connections will reduce my material costs by half. Highly recommend this course for those who want to take their jewelry to the next level.

These have been the best summer Saturdays I have spent in a very long time. Carolina is instantly lovable, with so much knowledge that she freely, enthusiastically gives to us. Not just about making jewelry, but the art of alchemy and the history and chemistry that threads its way through the craft. I love this class so much, and I plan to continue my relationship with her if I’m able.

Carolina is a fantastic instructor. No matter what direction you want to take jewelry making, hobbyist-professional, Carolina will be able to help you along your journey. It is important to know what you get out of this is what you put in. Metalsmithing is thousands of years of knowledge and won’t be compressed into a short amount of time. The first set of classes you will begin to work on basic fundamentals while working on your first pieces. This will require you to interact with businesses up on 47th street, while at times this can be frustrating, the finished jewelry will be worth the time put in. Carolina is very passionate about the art form, and you will learn a tremendous amount in the class. She is very easy to reach if you have questions.

I am really enjoying the Metalsmithing class. Carolina is not only a very talented jeweler and metalsmither; she is a wonderful teacher and person.! We have many hours to learn and she finds time for each of us. There are usually only 3 other people in the studio at the same time. I am learning the basics of metalsmithing and Carolina is immensely supportive and I made a ring already after only 3 classes. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn metalsmithing, be creative and have some relaxing craft time with a wonderful educator.

how is the class structured as a course if classes start each week for new comers? If I start this week your new session may have started last week which means the lessons would be all over the place. how is this organized to maximize each students ability to grasp all phases of this course?
Answer from Carolina I.
My classes are personalized u will share it with people that are more advanced. I work with each person on different projects. Class syllabus, your first project is a design exercise that leads you to your 1st piece, second piece a wax carved ring third and four pieces 2 or 3 cuffs or a bezel setting depends on what the student would like to learn. We will be designing together based on your learning techniques your skills and your desires.

Question from Amy H.
What exact types of items do you learn to make in this class ?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse Staff
In the first class, you will learn a design tool to design your first piece from scratch and that day you will learn how to cut file and sand it. Second class, you will learn how to solder that first piece and you will learn how to finish a piece and you will learn how to do a ring by carving wax. Third class, you will start a bezel setting pendant/ ring or an anticlastic cuff.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse Staff
Fourth, you will finish or keep working on this pieces and then we might do reticulation granulation or twisted wire or a simple chained bracelet or earrings. The classes are very personalized and you will learn how to craft metal meanwhile you learn different techniques and you learn how to design. But for me is not about the number of pieces is about you learning this craft properly.
