What you'll learn in this jewelry class:

Get to know the studio and become familiar with the tools and equipment through this introductory 8 week class.  No previous experience necessary. We will cover basic metalsmithing skills and techniques as related to the making of jewelry.  These include sawing, filing, basic forming, soldering, and understanding the basic components of jewelry design.

Basic Materials Supply List:

  • Wire silver solder – Hard, Medium, and Easy
  • 14ga bronze/brass wire – 1 ft. length
  • 16ga bronze/brass wire – 1 ft. length
  • Needle nose tweezers for soldering
  • Set of small drill bits – assortment of 6
  • Set of sandpaper grits 220, 320, 400, 600
  • Split mandrel for sandpaper (not tapered)
  • 6x6” sheet of copper 18ga or 20 ga
  • Saw blades - size 2/0 – 1 pkg.
  • Metal ruler with millimeters
  • Fine point Sharpie
  • Sketchbook and drawing pencils/pens
  • Set of 6 needle files - 2 cut
  • Jeweler’s saw frame - economy
  • Half round hand file - 2 cut
  • Wooden ring clamp
  • Sterling silver round wire 18ga, 20ga, 22ga – 1 ft. lengths of each 
Additional materials may need to be purchased for projects as discussed with your instructor.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Withdrawals from class 7 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund for the class minus a 5% processing fee. If cancellation occurs 3-6 days prior to the class, we will provide a 50% refund. Cancellations 48 hours or less receive a 25% refund. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows or same-day cancellations.

We do not refund tuition for classes that students miss due to their own circumstances. Students may make-up missed class sessions during open studio hours for up to two weeks after the last class meeting.

We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any class, in which case you may choose to receive a refund, apply the class credit towards a different course, or receive a tuition credit for future use. Tuition credits are valid for up to one year. Refunds will be issued within 30 days.
