What you'll learn in this glass blowing class:

In Brooklyn Glass’s 8 week neon course students will learn various skills needed to work with neon glass including basic tube bending techniques, layout and design preparation, and post production work such as wiring, mounting, and hanging a neon artwork.

Students can expect to finish up to three small neon projects (both designed and bent by the student with assistance from instructors) by the end of the class.

Unlike other neon workshops, our classes are housed within a fully functioning neon shop and neon product warehouse allowing us to offer all of the materials needed (various colored tubing, power supplies and wiring, and hanging materials) on site, and our instructors are specialized in digital layout design, electrical programming, and glass fabrication.

The price of class includes all glass, bending materials, 1 power supply, wiring, tube supports for hanging. Students will be provided with a neon bending toolkit to keep for future studio use, and one neon transformer that will light up to 2 small units. Additional transformers can be purchased on site if needed.

Neon units can take up to 2 weeks to be pumped, all neon units must be tagged with the following information: name, email, date and what gas is to be filled in it.

I wouldn't take this class again; there are better places to take it where the instructors are better / more patient at explaining concepts and techniques and you have more time to practice what you've learned.

David Ablon is a very engaged instructor who has given us latitude to explore our interests in neon and always has some help and insight to offer. I was wary that maybe my interest in sculpture over sign making might be problematic but it hasn't proved the case at all. I look forward to continue my studies =] 5 stars!

Such a great class! Esteban and Kate are amazing instructors. They're very helpful and give you plenty of one-on-one assistance, but also allow you to try the skills on your own and make mistakes to learn from it. I would definitely recommend this class!
