Flameworking with molten glass is akin to working with warm flowing honey – except that this material is 1200 degrees and solidifies into beautiful jewels that you can wear! Join us for a fun filled day of learning how to shape soft glass, using gravity and a few tools, to make wearable beads. No prior experience is necessary and no particular skill is required to get started. This beginner workshop will start with the basics (safety, lighting the torch) then move to creating solid forms, surface adornment and finally basic sculptural forms. Demonstrations include using colored stringers, twisty cane and applying frit as well as exploring precious metals as surface decoration to finish your wearable work of art.
