Description
What you'll learn in this glass blowing class:
As craftspeople, whether the intention is to be a studio artist, production glass maker, or fabricating your own design objects, the skills of communication and bringing 2D concepts into the 3rd dimension are integral to success. This class will cover design basics and the tools necessary to illustrate ideas, making them clear to both yourself and your potential “client”. Hand drawing, simple schematics, scale drawings, and the use of calipers will be the tools used in both discussions and demonstrations to gain a better understanding of the importance in pre-visualization and problem solving prior to execution. The goal of this process is to have a clear and concise idea of an object’s overall design, look, and scale prior to entering the hot shop.
This class is great for the intermediate and advanced glassmakers looking to hone their skills.
We ask that you bring an open mind and a critical eye to this class.
Prerequisite:
- Previous glassblowing experience required.
School Notes:
Preparing for class
- It is recommended that students bring notebooks and water bottles to in person classes. All basic materials and supplies needed for the class will be provided. If students wish to use specific tools or materials not supplied in class they are responsible for obtaining these items themselves.
Studio Attire
- For your safety, protective eyewear must be worn at all times in all areas of the UrbanGlass Studio. We will provide appropriate eyewear for your use. Appropriate work clothes are also required. Flammable or synthetic fabrics, sandals and open-toe shoes are not allowed. Long hair must be tied back.
Refund Policy
Enrollment cancellations made outside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class are eligible for a refund less a 5% processing fee. Refunds will not be granted for any cancellations made inside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class, or for withdrawals during class.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
