Learn the art of editorial illustration and how to get your designs published in this single-session course. Taught by an experienced illustrator, you'll create graphics and layouts for magazines, gaining valuable insights on working with clients and creating a portfolio. Join us as we delve into the world of freelance illustration and turn prompts into stunning art.
What is illustration, and how is it different than other creative fields?
What is it like to create artwork for a client? What are the different types of illustration? (Editorial, surface design, book etc.)
Learn from New Yorker illustrator Jenny Kroik in this class we will work on imaginary client assignments based on real jobs, develop concepts through sketches, and create a finished artwork that can live on the pages of a magazine, on product labels, on greeting cards, as online content and more.
We will discuss the development of a personal style, the visual arts market today, strategies for promoting our work, and more.

An access link will be emailed to you after purchase.
In the event that some or all of the meetings of the program cannot happen in person, programs will be held at the scheduled time in a virtual format via a video conferencing platform. The programs will continue through hands-on, at-home activities, lectures, presentations, and/or group discussions. No refunds will be issued should any portion of a course be held virtually.
We are not responsible for providing makeup classes or issuing refunds for programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control.
There are no refunds for outings, classes or workshops that meet fewer than three times per semester.
If you are unable to attend, you may contact [email protected] prior to the first date for a receipt that enables you to claim your contribution as a tax-deductible gift.

Refunds are computed from the date written notice is received. To receive a refund, you must enclose the original of your confirmation letter.
Please allow three to four weeks for processing of your refund request.
Processing fees, membership fees, auditions fees and class or exercise cards are not refundable. No cash refunds.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
