Born in Memphis, TN and raised in a small town in Mississippi, I first learned the word “yoga” and it’s physical component as a teenager. A family member brought a book with a video guide home from the library with the idea to shake up her stagnant exercise routine. There was a strange pull to know more about this thing called yoga and it’s physical benefits so I jumped right into practicing asana with a parental warning to be careful opening my mind too much with mediation.
