In 1962, Michael J. Dupey, a Dallas businessman, debuts Dupey Enterprises, Inc. - the company that would open the very first Michaels store. The first Michaels store opens, located at Northtown Mall in Dallas, Tx. in 1973.

There are already 26 stores by 1984. Michaels enters Canada with two stores...
