Gabe Abelson

Teaches at Flappers Comedy University

Originally from New York City, Gabe Abelson spent 4-1/2 years as the head monologue writer for Late Show with David Letterman, garnering four Emmy nominations and three Writer’s Guild nominations. After his years at Letterman, Gabe relocated to the West Coast with his family, where he worked as staff writer at various network shows, including Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher (ABC), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC), The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn (CBS), in addition to having served as the producer / head writer for The New Tom Green Show (MTV). Gabe recently sold an animated feature to Dreamworks in conjunction with producer Jason Koornick (Next), Universal Press Syndicate and Andrews-McMeel Publishing. Previous to his career in television and movie writing, Gabe was an accomplished stand-up comedian and actor, touring the country and appearing on such shows as Late Night With Conan O’Brien, The MTV Half-Hour Comedy Hour (3 appearances), Caroline’s Comedy Hour (2 appearances), as well as numerous national commercials. For ten years, Gabe also taught a wildly popular class on stand-up comedy at “The Manhattan Punchline”, Broadway's only devoted-to-comedy theater.
