I was so nervous going into this class as a complete novice. Within minutes, I felt at home. Both the instructor (especially the instructor) and the other classmates were warm, non-judgmental, and open. I felt energized as a person and informed as a performer. Needless to say, I have already signed up for the same class next week! 10 stars if I could! Thank you!

Joanie Coyote was wonderful and insightful. She gave me some of the best and most useful notes I've ever received from a director or teacher. She never put me down and never poked fun of any of us. She's a pro and you can feel it when she talks to you. She empathizes with how vulnerable we are up there and made us all feel like we really could/can do this seemingly impossible task of "getting up and doing 5 minutes". Oh, and she taught me how to write a joke.... And a whole bunch of other stuff you need to know before you step on that stage. I loved the class and I think Ms. Coyote is exceptional.

Discover the Best Professional Skills Classes in Los Angeles

Do you live or work in Los Angeles? Are you someone who wants to make their resume stand out? Then you need to learn everything you can about professional skills. These crucial talents are defined as career competencies and abilities used in the workplace that are beneficial for nearly any job. To break it down further, professional skills are a combination of hard skills (job-specific duties that can be trained) and soft skills (transferable traits like good work ethic, communication skills, and leadership). Building professional skills is a great way to further your career or start a new one, because you will be more appealing to potential employers if you have good professional skills.

Why You Should Learn Professional Skills in Los Angeles

If you learn professional skills in Los Angeles, it may help you relieve some of the stress that comes with work, because you will better understand how to be a good employee. You will most likely feel more confident and competent at your job if you have well-developed professional skills. By learning professional skills, you can even help others because you will be able to do your job more efficiently and effectively.

Once you have a basic knowledge of professional skills and why they are important, you will discover that there is a global community that is passionate about honing their professional skills. It might be a good idea to research local clubs, groups, events, and organizations where you can meet others that are interested in polishing their professional skills.

Lastly, your newfound professional skills will look good on your resume, especially if you have the top professional skills that are best suited for a resume. Approach it like this: the more professional skills you acquire, the better your resume will look to potential employers. You may even be able to ask for a raise at your current job or a higher salary at a new one if you can prove that you know the professional skills you include on your resume.

In-Person Professional Skills Classes in Los Angeles

The Story Source puts on The Art of Conversation, a class that aims to teach you how to navigate small talk toward deeper, more significant topics, or gracefully exit from an unwanted conversation. This workshop will show you how to feel more confident while engaging with strangers, as well as deepen your personal relationships.

Business Writing with Positive Impact is offered by Training Connection. In this one day class, participants learn the steps to writing more persuasive and effective emails, reports, and business proposals that will create a favorable impression of themselves and their organization. Another class offered by Training Connection is Project Management, which is a two session course that will teach you the fundamentals of project management. You will learn how to manage time and costs, implement quality measures, handle project risks, and more.

Virtual Professional Skills Classes

When you are considering taking a virtual professional skills class, it is good to remember that they have their pros and cons, just like in-person classes. One good thing about taking a virtual professional skills class is that you can attend it from anywhere. That means you can work on developing your professional skills in the comfort of your own home, in your backyard, or another quiet area. You also do not have to commute to a classroom, which saves both money and time. The biggest con about taking an online professional skills class is that you generally have to supply your own materials, but most of these classes do not require much more than your presence.

If you are interested in online professional skills classes, CourseHorse has options that will work for you. For example, Managing Personality & Behavioral Styles at Work is offered by Perception Insights. This class is designed to mitigate arguments and misunderstandings that occur in the workplace by educating you on different individual behavioral styles and how to help them behave harmoniously. Project Management for Administrative Professionals is an American Management Association offering that is designed to help executive secretaries, administrative assistants, office managers, and more give their best at work through exceptional project management skills. You will learn how to juggle the many responsibilities that come with project management throughout this three session course. How to be an Ally is another American Management Association course that will educate you about issues surrounding inclusivity. You will learn how to find common ground with others and actively support individuals from different groups, which will help your organization’s diversity and inclusion program thrive.
