You have so many stories inside of you, and you are burning to tell them. But how do you get from inspiration to aired segment? In this Los Angeles Freelance Journalism Class, successful radio journalist David Weinberg (99 pi, Radiolab, KCRW) will take you through the paces of the freelance podcast life.
You’ll learn how to pitch to editors, keep your pile of ideas fresh, and work with your sources. David will cover the mechanics of being a professional freelancer: how much to charge, time management, where to pitch your ideas, and how to avoid the rookie mistakes. You’ll get to pitch an idea to David, find out which podcasts or shows to target and how to approach them. By the end of the class, you’ll have everything you need to set up a freelance podcast career. It won’t be long before you’re sipping a cup of hot coffee and gathering interviews for your next 99% Invisible or Love and Radio segment. You’ll be well on your way to joining the ranks of the 12 Writing Pad Alums who sold radio stories to NPR and 3 who got freelance producer jobs with Writing Pad’s help!
