What you'll learn in this career training:

Work for a law firm or become an Alternative Legal Service Provider preparing legal documents for clients who want to represent themselves in court. Learn to confidently complete documents for your own clients or in a legal setting. 

Earning potential: $32,000 to $49,000 per year.  (Government Legal Document Assistant jobs can go up to $64,000 per year).

You'll learn how to: 

  • Create Revocable Living Trusts 
  • Prepare Evictions for landlords and Eviction Defenses for tenants  
  • Prepare Uncontested Divorce Proceedings  
  • Represent claimants for SSDI claims 
  • Draft business contracts, and know the essential elements of a contract  
  • Create LLCs, S corps and C Corps  
  • Negotiate Consumer debt

  • A high school diploma with two years of legal experience
  • a baccalaureate degree with one year of legal experience
  • or a certificate of completion from a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association.  

Legal Document Assistant must maintain a $25,000 bond and register with the county.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Refund Policy

Note: This provider has a temporary cancellation policy for COVID-19 related cancellations which is as follows: 

Anyone age 60 or older can receive a voucher good for 3 years for a future class. Anyone under age 60 with related health condition or illness can receive a voucher with a written note from his/her doctor.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for withdrawal from a class must be received at least three full business days before the first class meeting. Upon request you will receive a credit voucher in the amount of the class, less a $10 service fee per class. The credit voucher is applicable toward a future class and is valid for three years. Full refunds will be granted if a class is cancelled by El Camino College. Please allow four to six weeks for processing.

Requesting a transfer
