Media Management will teach participants the best practices, tools and hardware for conducting media management on set, either as a DIT or a dedicated digital loader.
This class and all of its materials will be delivered on the Smashcut platform. Smashcut is an online learning environment, designed especially for media education, that offers robust collaborative instruction with media sharing capabilities, contextual feedback on student work, and broadcast-quality asychronous video lectures. Once students have registered for this course, they will be granted access to Smashcut.
Media management is a core camera department function with specific duties related to the safeguarding of camera original files. In this course, we'll dig into the equipment needed, how the role collaborates on-set including responsibilities, and the technical info behind media devices. From having a system to keep fresh media available to camera, making verified backups and QC’ing footage, to creating reports and managing storage (and time), this class will cover the most important aspects of media management on digital productions.

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Payment must be received upon registration. If a participant is unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer registration to an alternate date or location, or use the full credit towards a different workshop. You may also transfer enrollment to someone else, but you must provide the updated registrant information prior to the start of the class. If unable to attend, you must notify AbelCine within 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Any discount codes, coupons, or certificates must be redeemed at registration. Multiple discounts cannot be combined, in these situations we will honor the largest discount.
AbelCine reserves the right to cancel or postpone classes in the event of low enrollment or forces beyond our control. If the instructor is sick or unable to attend, we will notify clients 48 hours in advance of class to reschedule for a later date.
