What you'll learn in this tour class:

The Zoo is home to more than 1,100 mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles representing more than 250 different species of which 29 are endangered. 

In addition, the Zoo’s botanical collection comprises several planted gardens and more than 800 different plant species with 7,400 individual plants. Among the highlights at the Zoo are the Rainforest of the Americas, the Elephants of Asia, Campo Gorilla Preserve, and the Chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains. 

In addition to these exhibits, there is a wide variety of animals waiting for your discovery. Also, there are audio tours and safari shuttles to make your experience informative and comfortable. You will enjoy lunch on your own at one of several dining facilities, from cafes to sandwich stands. And you will be able to explore the International Marketplace, the zoo’s unique gift store. John Powers will be your step-on guide for this excursion. Includes zoo entrance fee.

Students under 18 years of age, must have a parent or guardian complete a Release & Medical Consent form.

(Each tour will depart from and return to the El Camino College parking lot J just off of Crenshaw Blvd, outside Marsee Auditorium.)

Note: This provider has a temporary cancellation policy for COVID-19 related cancellations which is as follows: 

Anyone age 60 or older can receive a voucher good for 3 years for a future class. Anyone under age 60 with related health condition or illness can receive a voucher with a written note from his/her doctor.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for withdrawal from a class must be received at least three full business days before the first class meeting. Upon request you will receive a credit voucher in the amount of the class, less a $15 service fee per class. The credit voucher is applicable toward a future class and is valid for three years. Full refunds will be granted if a class is cancelled by El Camino College. Please allow four to six weeks for processing.

Requesting a transfer

To transfer to a different class date or course, requests must be received at least three full business days before the first class meeting. A $10 service fee per class will apply. Please call CourseHorse at 212.729.4088.
