Part 3: How do you make decisions? Have you ever made a poor decision because you felt intimidated or wanted to avoid rejection? In negotiations, often intense emotions can get triggered by a surprise tactic that confuses or manipulates to drive poor thinking and decision-making.
In this module, we will explore strategies for recognizing typical negotiation tactics and experiment with interactive role plays to discover helpful approaches that will keep you focused on your key goals.
Trust is the foundation for successful negotiating in our world today since many people rely on digital and high technology to connect with others the human being element is often left out. This course will give you strategies and resources to begin developing new emotional intelligence and communication skill sets to navigate the complexities of working effectively with people.
You will learn how to use your C.O.O.L. Negotiator framework and Preparation Checklist to recognize your emotions, apply cooling down strategies that work for you to think straight and focus on your goal for the negotiation.
This practical hands-on module will increase your confidence to ask for what you want and listen to your counterpart’s perspectives with empathy to de-escalate tension in a negotiation. Whether you are negotiating a job offer, promotion, a consumer purchase or want to resolve team conflict, this course gives you the advantage of knowing that human beings have a spectrum of positive and negative emotions that can make or break a negotiation.
With improvisation games, exercises, class discussions and role-plays, you will expand self-awareness of emotions and discover ways to communicate and negotiate successfully to fulfill more of what you want in life.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
