What you'll learn in this sewing & textile class:
Using motifs in folk art textiles you will learn to draw up an original design and then build up an appliqued picture using traditional techniques.
Join us in this six hour fabric collage workshop. You will use a range of cotton fabrics as a palette and you will work on to an old piece of patchwork or quilt which will give a distinctive edge to your work. You will further enhance the applique with simple hand stitching.
Mandy will show you how she finishes off her pieces to make them ready to mount or hang straight up.
Mandy's work is based on patching and fiercing and uses antiwue quilts and scraps. Techniques include hand sewing, combining piercing and applique with stitching. Students will be given a foundation to work on and then learn to build up a picture..
