What you'll learn in this photography class:

Learn the fundamentals of street shooting.

This one-day class is an introduction to street shooting. Participants will meet at the school for a two-hour lecture on the history of street shooting, the law and ethics of shooting on the street, how to shoot candidly, how to capture the decisive moment, how to approach people, how to be brave, and what equipment to use. We will then carpool to the Metro on Hollywood Boulevard, where we will take the subway downtown to Union Station.

For the next four hours, we will shoot in Union Station, on historic Olvera Street and in Chinatown, all just blocks from one another. We will also sit down to eat great Mexican food together while on Olvera St. At 4:30 pm, we will head back to the studio by Metro, where we will edit the work and end the day with a critique.

On the 2nd Annual Pop-Up “Street Shooting Around the World” exhibit in the fall of 2014, all street shooting students will be encouraged to take part.

Skill/Experience level: Students should have a working knowledge of their camera and the ability to shoot in manual mode. A basic understanding of photography fundamentals is required.
