What you'll learn in this oil painting class:

Our sought after Abstract Instructor, Scott Yeskell, begins by showing his students a well worn system based on sound art theories. See live demonstrations how to keep your colors clean and create exciting paintings. Open to all ages & levels.

What you will learn:
Learn a developed system of abstract painting
Learn how to work with emotion, color, rhythm
Learn how to maximize a provocative composition
Learn to paint abstractly while staying intouch with traditional methods and techniques.
Get an overview on building a body of abstract work for Gallery Representation

Have you ever pondered the various ways of transforming your painting muse into an abstract expression of how or what you feel? Seems a bit complicated, but worth a shot, right? Take a photo of a specific scene that you are fond of, whether it's a Downtown busy street, the ocean, a sweeping meadow, ect. and begin to understand its rhythm. Is it calm? frantic? Does it overlap in size and shape, is it warm or cool? Next, take your picture and crop it, blow it up, imagine it from a birds eye view. Starting to sound interesting?
In this course with a working, professional artist, you will learn and develop a system of painting abstract imagery that will make your work grow leaps and bounds. Yeskel will explain the mesh between midcentury abstraction and realism and how it has evolved in today's art world. Learn to paint abstractly while staying intouch with traditional methods and techniques.

Hi Donna! Just one is needed. Thanks!
Question from anonymous
I have a drawing that I drew and would like to transfer onto a canvas painting. I never have painted before. but to draw this picture again is impossible for me since it has so many detailed lines. can you recommend a class that will charcoal carbon copy picture to canvas for painting?
Answer from Cheryl K. Verified Educator
Dear Artist, The best advice I can give you is to not begin to learn to paint with a project that is so precious to you. We begin our students with painting exercises that will develop your skills so that eventually you can tackle difficult projects. You are welcome to come and visit us. We are a skill-based professional art academy.

Beginning Abstract Painting

I enjoyed taking the 'Abstract' painting class on Monday nights. I signed up four 4 weeks. The sessions were more like open studio time rather than actual instructional classes, so that was a little disappointing as I felt like I did not learn much as it relates to abstract painting. There was some basic instruction on setting up color palette, sequence for applying paint to canvas, and cleaning brushes, all of which can be covered in about 20 minutes. There are also other students/artist of differing skill levels, and who are painting in differing styles in the studio at the same time as the 'Abstract' painting class. I learned more from watching what the other people were doing, than from instruction. Overall, I enjoyed the time but I think it is a lot of money for time shared in a studio. The label of "class" is somewhat misleading.

The class was ok however the was not the class I purchased and I was very disappointed in that. I did not have the things I needed because it was a different class with a completely different instructor. :(
