Description
What you'll learn in this drawing & painting class:
View art from LACMA’s collection to discover how great artists use color, composition, and brushwork to make a painting. In your home tabletop studio, learn basic drawing and painting skills while experimenting with acrylic paint and drawing tools. All skill levels are welcome! With artist Rosanne Kleinerman.
This program will take place online via Zoom.
Join on your computer or tablet wherever you have internet. A Zoom link and art materials list will be sent to you prior to class. Students are responsible for providing their own art materials based on recommendations provided by the teaching artist.
Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Refund Policy
Full refunds will only be granted if the art class is cancelled. Please notify us immediately of any cancellations so that a student on our waiting list can attend class. A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be granted for cancellations made three weeks before class start date. No refunds for cancellations made less than three weeks prior to class start date.

This class is great if you want to do your own thing, with a modicum of assistance/intervention. At least half the class are regular attendees but equally there are complete beginners, who will get a decent amount of encouragement and support from the teacher and other members of the group. There is no set assignment ever, and each class begins with a non-compulsory but inspiring visit to the galleries to look at a couple of works and set the tone for the day. Class cost includes museum entry and car parking, which is good value.

It's more of a studio session than a class as everyone is doing their own thing, but Rosanna is a wonderful artist and teacher and gives very helpful advice. It is great to start each session in the galleries, looking at paintings you would not normally stop to look at, and this provides real inspiration for personal projects. Taking time out to paint and spend time at LACMA is a great bonus in a busy week. All the other people in the class are really supportive and nice too.
