On this session, you will learn and experience those aspects of teaching which can only be learned once you are teaching. Between Session 1 and Session 2, you will teach entire classes, open to the public, followed by criteria-driven feedback. At its completion, you will be a YogaPoser-Certified Asana Teacher or a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), and you’ll have the option to register with Yoga Alliance at the 500-Hour Level.
Ideally, you’ll have some familiarity with Primary Series as well but that is not a requirement. In this class the body’s weight is on the hands and arms quite a bit. Usually Ashtanga is done self-paced so that the practice is your own thing, but once a week we lead a group through most or all of the Primary Series. It is important that you have some experience moving through Sun Salutes before attending this class. This class is not recommended...
You will become extremely fit doing this practice but you start where you are. Originally all teachers were certified personally by Mr. Jois, usually from his studio in Mysore, India. At YogaPoser, we recognize that the teacher-student relationship in the West is typically very different from the guru-disciple relationship in the East. In the West the student tends to want more of a customized and interactive experience, where their specific needs...

Students begin with strong core work, sun salutes, and perhaps a thoroughly instructed yoga pushup or two. The energy and music then begin to pick up as you move into the first of 3 cardio sets (ranging from 2-4 minutes) that can and often do include plyo metrics (faster movements and jumping)! Following that, there is a 20 minute vinyasa flow, a second cardio set, another vinyasa sequence, and a final cardio set which brings the students to the...

This class will fly by. Lie supported by yoga props and breathe with some simple and ancient techniques to bring your inner body to the healthy state where it functions and feels best. Students will be able to perform techniques designed to promote relaxation and build internal energy or life force. Led by Fred Segal Salon owner and longtime meditation practitioner, Matthew Preece, this free class is a guided meditation, done while seated in a chair. It is open to all.
What makes Total Poser different from our other classes is that it’s always well-rounded in terms of strength versus openness, heating versus cooling, and work versus release. And it always builds to some kind of peak- whether it’s learning a new pose, refining an old one, or working to open or strengthen a particular body part. And it always has a nice slow decline to a satisfying and well-earned savasana. If you’re new to yoga, you will...
Total Poser No-Flow is a thoroughly-instructed, slower paced and well-rounded class that takes your whole body into its full range of available motion, increasing flexibility, strength, and focus. In this class you’ll spend enough time in each pose to learn and focus in greater detail than in faster-paced flow classes. We have three levels of Total Poser No-Flow class. Please keep yourself safe and choose the one that is appropriate...

When you graduate our 200RYT training, you’ll already have begun teaching. That’s because the course includes real teaching of real students, not other trainees, so that you graduate ready to be hired. Instead of being ready to teach your first actual class when you graduate, you will already have taught several. Upon completion, you’ll have earned a 200-Hour RYT diploma, which you can use to register with Yoga Alliance if you would like...
