This course enlightens valuers, users of valuation services and the public to the recent updates in global valuation standards that include IVS, Red Book and USPAP showing the differences between an IVS compliant appraisals and USPAP compliant report.

As a valuer, your clients and stakeholders rely on you to provide valuations for inclusion in financial statements, regulatory compliance or to support secured lending and transactional activity. The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) has significantly revised its International Valuation Standards (IVS) to build confidence and public trust in the valuation process. The new guidelines create a framework to help you deliver credible valuation opinions in a professional and ethical manner. These guidelines will be compared to USPAP to provide you with a greater understanding of credible and compliant valuation. By attending this course, all practitioners, stakeholders and end-users will be able to demonstrate comprehension of the new mandatory requirements to provide to IVS 2017-compliant valuation reports. Attendees will understand the similarities between the more common USPAP guidelines and see how IVS appraisals differ in certain regards such as terminology, emphasis on scope of work and departures allowed.

Course Content
This course will clear up the differences between USPAP-compliant appraisals and IVS-compliant appraisals, pointing out their differences and similarities. The class will include interactive activities, and you will be able to communicate directly with your expert presenter, asking any questions you need to.

By the end of this course, you will:

• recognize and compare the new requirements contained within International Valuation Standards 2017 and USPAP 2018-2019
• implement the steps necessary for application and compliance with new standards
• recognize and list the differences in terminology between the standards
• analyze the difference in importance between the Scope of Work for USPAP and IVS
• define the key stages required from initial instruction to final report, included in the general standard IVS
• provide or interpret USPAP- and/or IVS-complaint valuation reports
• review case studies with examples of pitfalls and regulatory requirements
