Joy Roulier Sawyer, MA

Teaches at Lighthouse Writers Workshop

Joy Roulier Sawyer received her MA from New York University, where she won the Herbert Rubin Award for Outstanding Creative Writing. She is a former contributing editor and poetry editor for the Mars Hill Review, a national journal of arts and culture, and was the recipient of a Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute associateship for her performance poetry. Joy is the author of Tongues of Men and Angels (White Violet Press, 2016), and her poetry appears in diverse publications, most recently LIGHT Quarterly, Ruminate, St. Petersburg Review, The Bacon Review, The Other Journal, The Volta, and Torrid Literature Journal. She is also the author of several nonfiction books, and her longtime work in the fields of both writing therapy and bibliotherapy gives her special expertise in writer's block, writing exercises, and the writing process.
