Amanda Rea

Teaches at Lighthouse Writers Workshop

Amanda Rea is recipient of a 2015 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers Award, the William Peden Prize in Fiction, and a Pushcart Prize. Her stories and essays have appeared in Freeman’s, Electric Literature's Recommended Reading, The Missouri Review, The Kenyon Review, The Sun, Indiana Review, Iowa Review, Glimmer Train, Green Mountains Review, and New South, and have been listed among the distinguished stories in Best American Short Stories. She has received fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Institute of Creative Writing in Wisconsin, Jentel Artist Residency, and Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts. 

She earned her MFA at the University of California-Irvine. She has taught writing at the University of California, Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Oakhill Correctional Facility, and elsewhere.
