Eric May

Teaches at Peterson Garden Project

Eric May grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, within striking distance of both decent taco joints and wooded ravines alike. For 15 years he worked as the chef at an idyllic woodsy summer camp for adults called the Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, MI. He has run a small nonprofit art center, Roots & Culture in Chicago's Noble Square neighborhood since 2006. He received his MFA at Northwestern University in 2011 where he framed conversations about food through cooking, writing, and hosting participatory events. In 2011 he started The Piranha Club, a monthly dining situation exploring provocative ideas about cuisine with collaborators from both the art and food worlds.
