This hands-on lighting workshop will teach you how to choose the right lighting equipment for your projects and your budget (for small to no crew productions). You will get to see and use a variety of lighting gear, from low to high-end lighting equipment and accessories in a real-world production environment.
Your instructor, Jem Schofield of theC47, will take attendees through how to light for documentary, in-house and corporate based projects. He will take attendees through the process of planning & lighting using largely low-key, cinematic techniques. This class will feature lighting, lighting control, composition and also typical camera set-ups to teach you how to light for a variety of projects. It will also discuss and demonstrate certain "rules" that can be followed to help you consistently shoot great looking and natural one and two camera interviews.
You will go through a variety of lighting situations through lectures, lighting demonstrations, and specific lighting assignments (this is a hands-on workshop). You will learn the techniques behind a one, two, three and four-point lighting set ups, key to fill ratios, and how these techniques create mood. By the end of this workshop, you will have the ability to choose the right types of lights and equipment for your projects.
The workshop will be delivered in a conversational style while teaching the process and craft of small to no crew production. Exactly like being on set or on location!

This workshop is for aspiring or working professionals that want to up their game in terms of knowledge and practical application related to both the technical and craft of lighting related to small to no crew production.
If a participant is unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer registration to an alternate date or location, or use the full credit towards a different workshop.
You may also transfer enrollment to someone else, but you must provide the updated registrant information prior to the start of the class.
If unable to attend, you must notify CourseHorse within 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time.
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone classes in the event of low enrollment or forces beyond our control. If the instructor is sick or unable to attend, we will notify attendees 48 hours in advance of class to reschedule for a later date.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
