What you'll learn in this kids camp class:

From Robotics to Fashion Design, campers will spend the week making, whether they come in at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level. Each session runs for a week and is 3 hours per day.  Please have your camper pack a water bottle and nut-free snack.

6/4-6/8: Fashion and Trends
Learn about the history of fashion and how culture impacts our clothing. We'll learn how to work off patterns, make our own and hand sew as well as use a sewing machine. We'll end our week with a runway show in the yard! Includes fabric and sewing material fee.

6/11-6/15 & 7/16-7/20: Drawing and Painting
Discover how to draw by exploring gesture, anatomy, line and tone using a variety of drawing tools. Artists will work on various drawing forms throughout the week including watercolor and acrylic paint to enhance their new artistic skills. Includes drawing and painting materials.

6/11-6/15 & 7/23-7/27: Ceramics
Clay is a wonderful way to introduce art to your budding potter. In our ceramic studio we teach students how to handle clay in order to make functional and artistic ceramic pieces. We start with wet clay using the handbuilding method. Once students master the way of clay, we'll introduce them to the potters wheel where we'll make bowls, cups and more.

6/18-6/22: Photography
Travel back to 1839 when the birth of Photography was introduced to the world. Our photography skills have evolved since then - from paper-based calotype negatives to digital images. But many things remain the same, style and composition and that's where our campers get to express their visual talents. All students must have a digital camera or phone for this class.

6/25-6/29: Filmmaking
Focusing on the basics students will go from pre-production to post-production working with a green screen, camera, lighting and props.

Student will work together to create a 1-3 minute short film. Each student will contribute their talents as the cast and/or crew in the creation of the final film. The key to successful filmmaking is teamwork, communication, and thinking creatively on your feet while having fun!

7/23-7/27: Architecture and Modeling
We'll take a visual tour of buildings and monuments around the world and the mastermind behind the design. Then we'll invite our campers to create their own blueprints and mini model buildings. Includes material fees for modeling and drafting.

7/23-7/27: Robotics and Circuits
Remember Robby the Robot? Well you're kids might not, but after this class they'll not only know him but understand how this mechanized robot is built. We'll dabble with making our own mini version that the campers can design with their own personal touches. Includes supplies to take home.

Skills involved:
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Team coordination and collaboration
  • Some computer science with creating and testing algorithms
  • Debugging
8/6-8/10: Block Printing
Campers will learn the basics of Block Printing on paper and fabric. We'll teach them carving techniques for rubber and wood blocks along with design and pattern usage for a final piece on either canvas or paper.

8/13-8/17: Filmmaking
Focusing on the basics, students will go from pre-production to post-production working with a green screen, camera, lighting and props.

Students will work together to create a 1-3 minute short film. Each student will contribute their talents as the cast and/or crew in the creation of the final film. The key to successful filmmaking is teamwork, communication, and thinking creatively on your feet while having fun!
