What you'll learn in this food tours class:

Come join your expert tour guide for a delightful stroll through some of the Chicago's most decadent dessert boutiques and chocolatiers along the Magnificent Mile on the Chocolate Tour of Chicago!

The chocolate industry is a steadily growing, $50 billion-a-year worldwide business! Chocolate is made from cocoa beans, the dried and partially fermented seeds of the cacao tree. Roughly two-thirds of the entire world's cocoa is produced in West Africa, with 43% sourced from Ivory Coast.

The earliest evidence of use traces to the Mokaya (Mexico and Guatemala), with evidence of chocolate beverages dating back to 1900 BC. From ancient aztec recipes to post modern takes on the dark stuff, from a World's Fair winning praline to gold infused valrhona cupcakes, The Chocolate Tour of Chicago will take you to chocolate paradise and beyond...chocoholics everywhere will love this tour!

Chocolate Tour of Chicago
Reviewed by Anonymous on 5/20/2019
The tour guide was very nice and friendly so that is the only reason I'm even giving the tour 2 stars. However, this tour was NOT AT ALL what I thought it would be and is not worth $50 a person. It is very misleading and is not really an actual chocolate tour. Of the 5 different "chocolate" places we stopped at, at 2 of the 5 places we sampled a small chocolate cupcake and at another 1 a cakepop from a coffee shop. Only 2 of the locations were actually chocolate shops!! Most of the places we stopped at also only offered 1 sample. The chocolates we sampled each cost $5 or less, meaning you could spend $25 or less per person if you walked to these places by yourself! In addition, there was no clear communication with the company about where to meet at the Wrigley Building and no email or phone number to contact the company or guide. My group had to search around the Wrigley Building to finally find the tour guide inside one of the stores. Do yourself a favor (and save yourself a bunch of money!) and just look up chocolate shops in Chicago yourself. I do not recommend this tour to anyone.
