How did you come up with the idea for Nailed It DIY Studios?
This question comes up often at our classes and when we meet people in public. The idea seems to be so simple and popular, some folks seem to wonder if we came up with it on our own. The answer is YES! Both Misty and I come from an extremely creative background in both our personal and professional lives and it was no surprise that we came together in this way.
For years, Shannon was making home decor for locals under my business "Inch by Inch" and it was a way to bring in a little extra income for the family while doing something she loved. Before Shannon even met Misty, she was doing the same thing under her business, "Dot Dot Goose". Our projects were sold online and in small boutiques in the area. Taking orders and making pieces for friends and family was an everyday task that we both enjoyed, even if it kept us working to the wee hours of the morning. Then one day, back in 2014, a local church came to Shannon and asked if she would be willing to come to their parish to lead a group of women in creating a DIY project for their homes. Naturally, Shannon jumped at the chance, and that one single event changed the course of both our lives, and the business. That evening, the domain rights for Nailed It DIY Studios was bought, the paperwork was filed. All before 3am. With a bottle of wine and Shannon's best friend, Kristy.
We held our first class on September 9th, 2014, and it was an instant success. Word of mouth spread and one day, Misty came to see what all the hype was about. The business idea behind Nailed It intrigued her. After taking the class, she knew this was a business she wanted to invest in and be a part of. The partnership formed seamlessly shortly after and together we have made a brand that no one else can match.
Misty and Shannon collaborate on every single project, ensuring that each piece is something our customers can and will want to make in the classroom. We also engage with our customers directly via our Facebook and Instagram pages on what projects they would like to try and whether they are interested in other projects we have thought up. The goal is to come up with ideas that our students will be proud to display in their homes, and, thus far, we have accomplished that goal; but we’re not done yet. Nailed It is growing and learning with every single workshop we hold!
Accept no imitations; there is only one Nailed It DIY Studio experience to be found in Fort Mill and Rock Hill.
