Ramon de los Reyes

Teaches at The Dance Complex

Born and raised in Madrid, master dancer/choreographer/teacher Ramón de los Reyes has been a leading figure in flamenco in the US and internationally for 40 years. Performing professionally since the age of 13, Ramón toured Europe and North, Central, and South America appearing with Reyes-Soler Dance Company, Alba/Reyes Spanish Dance Company (both of which he co-founded) and as soloist with Ximenez-Vargas Spanish Dance Company and the Pilar Lopez Dance Company. He has performed at the White House and at the Olympic Games in Mexico, and appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, the Merv Griffin Show, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards from, among others, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Digital, Polaroid, and Honeywell-Bull, and his artistic contributions have been recognized by Jacob’s Pillow and the State of Massachusetts. He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Ramón de los Reyes Spanish Dance Theatre, Inc., New England’s only fully professional Spanish dance company, which he founded in 1976. He has taught locally at the Boston Conservatory, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Walnut Hill School, Boston Ballet, and has held classes at The Dance Complex since its founding in 1991 (and also at the Joy of Movement, which occupied the Odd Fellows building previous to the Dance Complex). Ramón de los Reyes brings a lifetime of knowledge and experience to his teaching, and is passionately committed to his students’ development both technically and artistically. He is very pleased that his sons Isaac and Nino are joining him to teach at the Dance Complex as part of the Spanish Dance Theater.
