Jennifer Kepnes

Teaches at The Brookline Ballet School

Jennifer began her ballet training in her home town of Cape Cod, Mass. She took her first ballet class at the age of 2 under the direction of Marion Miller at the Cape Cod Conservatory. Jennifer then took her ballet training to Massachusetts State Ballet, a pre-professional company under the direction of Sabrina Vaz and was accepted to Boston Ballet’s intensive program. 

Jennifer competed in, and choreographed top high scoring dances in national competitions for many years including: Headliners, Star Power and Starquest. Jennifer was also awarded the national title as Miss Junior Starquest for her Lyrical solo “Leaving on a Jet Plane”. Jennifer has danced many lead roles in numerous Ballets, including: Nutcracker, Coppelia, Dracula, Firebird and Hunchback of Notre Dame. As well as an original composition contemporary piece she choreographed in collaboration with Berklee College of Music Alum that was performed at the Berklee College graduation ceremony in 2002.

Jennifer also has a love for theater and broadway jazz. She was cast in the musical CHICAGO with the Lyric Theater Company of VT, and a world premier original musical geared toward bullying awareness called “Bully be Gone!”, written and directed by Elaine Davis in Stowe, VT. The show was shown to hundreds of elementary school children across the state of VT. 

Jennifer completed four years of teaching training at Dance Masters of America at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has been teaching all ages for 15 years. She was the head ballet instructor at Urban Dance Complex, a Hip Hop studio where she taught technique classes, ballet and contemporary to middle school / high school level students. Some of her students have appeared on the X factor, and toured with Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber. She has taught pro bono classes to inner city children in the South End at Lady Constantine’s Dance studio and currently teaches intro to Ballet at the Jewish Community Center in Brighton / Brookline. She loves incorporating beginning ballet movements with fun and creativity, while encouraging rhythm and movement in a classical way. She is married and has two young daughters involved in dance. Jennifer is extremely excited to join the team at TBBS.
