Reviews for Baking Classes

Baking Classes are rated 4.6 stars based on 85,110 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • My experience at Jalopy School of Music was a positive one. The class size was small(3 students) and that felt perfect for a beginner group. We had a great instructor, Kyle M. I still have a long way to go on my guitar journey and I felt like this was a good 1st step for me.
  • Our instruction was helpful, friendly, and experienced. The class was extremely immersive and exciting. Would definitely recommend and will come back!
  • This was a really nice experience and I learned a lot! Great instructor, lovely kitchen space.
  • Anna was a great instructor - gave very helpful demonstration and remained very attentive to everyone's projects
  • Such an excellent way to be introduced to wheel throwing! Our instructor Siri was excellent— she explained the process well, and was very helpful as we encountered new questions and created new problems. We made multiple pieces each, and while only one firing is included in the class fee, the firing fee for additional pieces is so inexpensive that we ended up deciding to keep everything we made. We may be back to take more classes and learn more advanced skills :D
  • Clear, friendly instruction, lots of attempts to play around on the wheel, in a large workspace where more professional people were working and lots of cool work on the walls for inspiration. Price felt exactly right. Very messy, very fun!
  • He taught me a lot in the two hour session I was with him. I think more then I expected.
  • I came in with 2 pair of pants that I wanted to learn how to repair and did just that even though I never used a sewing machine before. My instructor, Wioletta, was amazing. Patience, encouraging, and light hearted. The hour went by so quickly. I didn't have any real interest in learning how to sew before this, but now I purchased my first sewing machine and I'm considering taking the 101 bootcamp!
  • This tour was really good - when it started, you sat down and they took your order for a free drink, and then you were free to leave the cabin and go out on the deck. If you head out early you can get a good spot so that you can see the NY landmarks. Also, when you got to the Statue of Liberty, they had an assistant there ready to clear an area of the deck so that everyone could take at least one picture if they wanted, which I thought was cool (since many people had flocked to the deck to take pictures of her and it blocked a lot of space). Overall, this was so relaxing. I will say, perfect date night idea!
  • Detail oriented instructor and beginner friendly class.
  • Lots of personal attention, care, and encouragement, and everything provided. It really gave a good introduction to the skills and techniques you need to become a jeweler.
  • Great intro into sewing basics. Very laid back and comfortable atmosphere.
  • Highly recommend. The Home Cooking kitchen is immaculate, and well stocked. Our instructor, Chef Al as super personable and shared several cooking tips for preparing dips, noodles, knife skills, deboning chicken .... and also provided detailed hand-outs so we could replicate at home. The class was fun, interactive and informative. What's more, we had time to test and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese dinner, family style, all within the 3 hour time slot. I absolutely loved the shrimp/pork spring rolls, and the marinated chicken. Loved it so much I've signed up for another class.
  • One of the best experiences I've had in a while. the chef was amazing the food was incredible, I would recommend to anyone that has never been or done a cooking class. 10 starts
  • I took the Fundamentals of Drawing & Painting and I loved it! I reconnected with my passion for art and I was guided very well to complete a piece of art I was proud of and could hang up! Would 100% recommend!
  • Learned so much in this class! Instructor was knowledgeable and personable, food was great, and I feel like I have a lot of takeaways that I'll be able to actually implement on my own.
  • Great instructor.
  • Ocie was fabulous - skilled and clear! It was a pleasure taking this class!
  • This was a really fun class for my teenage daughter and I to take together!
  • This class was so much fun — my husband and I learned a lot and enjoyed a delicious meal at the end of it.
  • I had THE MOST fun in this class. The instructor was a riot - super high energy, and the bar was actually so nice (the food slaps). The cocktails were delicious, and you get a variety. It's 100% worth the money for this one. Would highly recommend.
  • This class was great! A lot of good information up front - the first half of the class is dedicated to the book-knowledge, whereas the second is the more technical knowledge. You get to take the flowers and pot home with you, so it's worth it. The instructor was sooooo cute - she's a riot, and she's super fun to work with. Would highly recommend.
  • Fun, great instructor.
  • It exceeded my expectations. Sam was such a gifted and thoughtful teacher. 10/10
  • What a great yoga center! I really enjoyed going there twice a week for 4 weeks and being led by the experienced and warm teacher Aspara. Most students didn’t have much yoga experience and each class explored one of the 5 foundations of yoga (breathing, meditation, diet, positive thinking and poses). We went through the twelve poses in a slow and controlled pace. No pressure here, you do what you can! Price is very reasonable since the center is supported by volunteers. I’m looking at taking another class.
  • Alina Oswald is an excellent, patient instructor.. The lesson was methodical and well-paced. She provided helpful printed material during the lesson and the next day emailed me extensive follow-up information relevant to the lesson. I recommend her highly!
  • This was so fun! I brought my friend and we love to do arts projects. We brought our own beer and had a great time. There was not a lot of time to sip our beer during the class but that’s because we were very focused on the artwork. If you are a little unfamiliar with painting I would say the pace of the instruction may be a little fast. But I am already excited to come back.
  • James was a caring, dedicated, and passionate teacher. I have taken many drawing classes over the years and this was one of the best, and I've learned new skills as well! I highly recommend this class to anyone he wants to be taught by a wonderful teacher, and enhance their skills.
  • I really enjoyed the work. Finding my voice. Being challenged to write. Being honest. Learn to Take a risk. I would recommend to anyone. I’d definitely do it again.
  • It was great! ? I had a lot of fun. Thank you.
  • The event exceeded expectations. Everything was excellent. Thanks for your help.
  • Thank you and well done! Robert was great, and the initial feedback I received from students is that they had a lot of fun in the mystery murder escape room.
  • It was great! Everyone really loved it!
  • My team really loved the event! First time doing a virtual escape room and definitely not going to be the last time. We can't wait for another event!
  • Please give my best to the whole team, we had a great time and big laughs. Yu was amazing and it was great to hear someone "nerd out" about something they're passionate about.
  • Thank you very much Erin for hosting the event! It was great fun! ?
  • The origami class went well. Yu was a fantastic teacher, and she was so patient with me while I was trying to sort out the technical difficulties we faced on our end. Please thank her again from us. We appreciate CourseHorse working with us to create a class that suited our needs so well. Thank you!!!
  • Everything went really well—Erik was a hit with the team and incredibly knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be returning!
  • Our instructor Kavina was amazing! We had such a fun time and loved the class thanks to Kavina. Thank you for your assistance in coordinating!
  • Thanks so much! We very much enjoyed our time, and I’d like to plan for the next one.
  • I've heard nothing but great feedback and they all had a great time! Thank you again!
  • You guys did an incredible job and I know our group was a lot to handle, so thank you again.
  • It was a lot of fun, everyone had a great time and Nik did a great job of hosting!
  • I'm completely new, I took two classes. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. The class has a group of people who consistently go there, so there is a community. Great intro to improv, and I totally will come back.
  • Loved this course so much I'm already trying to figure out a next level of it! Even as someone who already does cook at home, especially within my culture's cuisine I learned so much in this class. In particular strong foundational things that ground you in how to think about food and cooking so that we can continue exploring ingredients and flavors beyond what we do in class. Very highly recommend!
  • The room needed little ventilation and air but the instructor was very good, very knowledgeable in the dance, really liked how every move in the warm ups came together into something cool at the end!
  • The class is very well much fun and enjoyable. The instructor was very well prepared and he conducted the class with humor and enthusiasm. My partner and I enjoyed kneading the pizza dough and learning the cutting techniques. Finalizing the pizza with sauce and cheese and seeing it come out steaming hot from the oven makes the experience unforgettable.
  • Amazing cocktail making class, really interesting class with a lot of details and explanation of how and why we were mixing the drinks a certain way! Will be back again
  • Great experience! The croissants were delicious and the instructor was super knowledgeable. Would definitely do another class there!
  • Terrific! A wonderful, incredibly skillful instructor and welcoming vibe made this class a great and inspiring way to spend an evening. I look forward to taking more classes!

Discover the Best Baking Classes Near You

From mixing up bagels to cupcakes and homemade bread, baking classes offer many chances to create sumptuous confections using an oven and dough. Baking is an important skill to have while working in the culinary arts and nutrition. Baking roles in the culinary arts include careers such as a pastry chef or baking entrepreneur. Many small pastry shops have opened in large cities like New York and Los Angeles. Even hit television series like the Great British Baking Show and Cake Bosshave been created to capitalize on the popularity of baking.

Baking includes the creation of not only standard cakes and pastries but also homemade bread, bagels, pretzels, and even pizza. Baking involves mixing together ingredients such as flour, sugar, eggs, and baking powder. Working with high heat is an essential part of the baking process. Learning to bake can be the beginning of a great hobby or career in culinary arts.

Why You Should Learn Baking

Learning how to bake can be the beginning of a fun career, creative hobby, and stress reliever. During the pandemic, many learned creative hobbies such as baking to utilize their time at home. Baking not only relieves stress but creates community through baking clubs and classes. Baking is a great way to maintain personal nutrition for dietary needs and to save money on buying baked goods by making your own. Baking is an enjoyable sensory activity that engages the taste buds. In 2015, a survey performed by the baking company Cake Angels found that 80% of participants felt stress relief after they had started baking. Studies also suggest that creative pursuits can help with feeling more relaxed and happier and contribute to personal growth.

Baking clubs have also become more popular since the pandemic because they create community and harmony between friends and neighbors. According to Hershey Company, 34% of consumers began baking as a form of self-care and stress relief. Exchanging baking recipes has become popular during the pandemic as a way to socialize and collaborate creatively. Baking clubs can be found through websites like Meetup.com or local churches, schools, and colleges.

The labor demands for pastry chefs and bakers remain high. Working in the culinary arts can lead to opening a small pastry shop or cafe as a small business. Baking can also become a side hustle to sell cupcakes and cakes online. The average salary for a pastry chef is between $32,000 to $47,000 per year, according to Glassdoor. Keeping up with the latest baking trends allows for catering weddings, parties, and birthdays. Brainstorming new recipes allows for the expansion of cooking and baking skills in the kitchen.

Becoming a pastry chef requires some formal training but begins with a deep love of baking. Pastry chefs attend culinary school, gain hands-on experience with a master chef, and learn the flow of a professional kitchen. Culinary schools have specialized programs for baking and pastry chefs.

5 Ways to Learn Baking

Some of the best ways to learn how to bake are through live, hands-on courses offered through community services, like through colleges, schools, and cooking classes. What Will I Need to Learn Baking?

When it comes to the process of learning baking, many materials and ingredients are needed. Some of the must-have baking tools are measuring cups and spoons. These are important for the accurate measuring of ingredients and following recipes closely. Other needed materials include wooden spoons, spatulas, pastry brushes, whisks, and rolling pins. A set of knives are always helpful, along with baking pans and cooling racks.

Having decent baking sheets is essential because of air circulation in the oven, and having a decent stand-mixer is helpful with making cookie dough. Common baking ingredients include baking soda, sugar, flour, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Baking kits can be bought at a local grocery store to save time and money on gathering ingredients. Access to an oven is essential, and always ensure the safety of your hands with oven mitts.

Is It Difficult to Learn Baking?

While it can be challenging to learn baking, it’s a great hobby and stress relief if you are determined to learn the skill. Some obstacles to learning baking are gaining access to an oven, needed equipment, and the cost of ingredients. Sometimes, the difficulties of learning baking can also be related to following a recipe and worrying about measuring ingredients precisely for great results. The skill of learning how to bake is accessible for those devoted to learning. Discount ingredients can be found at the local dollar store, and so can baking equipment.
