What you'll learn in this swing class:
Known as the "Sophisticated Swing," West Coast Swing incorporates slinky, smooth and sexy moves to Soul, Blues and Contemporary music. This dance began in Blues clubs in the 1940's, originating from the Lindy Hop. Since then, each region has developed a style and name for this slotted Swing dance. Examples are: The Texas Push, Chicago Steppin, and D.C. Hand Dancing. Whatever you call it, the West Coast Swing is "the" Swing Dance for today's music and is hotter than ever! Take this course for 3 cycles, and you are ready to move to the Intermediate level.
Refund & Cancellation PolicyThere are no refunds, but credit can be issued towards group classes, workshops, or private lessons. Please contact George Ciao or Anita Flejter directly with any refund issues.
Teacher: Kendall Reynolds
Kendall Reynolds discovered partner dancing through the dance department at the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Psychology & Sociology, minored in Dance (Modern & Ballet), and was inducted Phi Beta Kappa. She was very involved in the ballroom club on campus, Texas Ballroom, as a student, an organizer, and later, as an instructor. She studied Latin/Ballroom and quickly fell in love with Country Western. In Austin, she organized and taught a small ballet company, Aspiration Dance, for children and adults. She also enjoyed teaching dance to elementary school kids in an after-school program, Amazing Feats. She currently co-organizes a Pro Hustle Team (W 26th St Hustle) and organizes a Pro/Am Country Western Team (Line Dance NY), which both perform and compete. Kendall competes in Hustle Theater Arts, West Coast Swing, and Country Western Couples and Line Dance.
