Clothing Construction III is an advanced study in garment engineering. Through the class assignment of building a reversible basic t-shirt a student will gain insight into how a garment is built to be well lined or reversible.
This class takes you through making a pattern for a handbag you designed. Simple style suggestions are also shared in the class and attention is spent on size, shape, engineering, function, pockets and compartments. One handbag pattern is created in this workshop.
Students will first be learning how to make sewing and thread bags. Then, they will be choosing their next project based on what they are interested in learning (e.g. Garments, Quilting, Home Dec.)
Learn how to make a drawstring bag for your yoga mat! This is a useful project to practice your new sewing skills and you will learn how to use the serger, make a buttonhole and gain confidence using the sewing machine.
The objective is to learn three different ways to change the length on a garment. Blind hem, 5/8 double turn hem, and learn how to move an original hem up in order to preserve the original stitching and qualities of the original factory jean hem. Garments from your closet like skirts, pants, sleeves, dresses, and shorts all can achieve new lengths.

The art of fashion draping is a creative class with a strong technical approach. Students gain techniques and principles in how to approach fashion design using a dress form. Two draping methods are studied and from this class a student can take our pattern making class to acquire a pattern of the draped.
The objective is to learn how to operate a sewing machine, adjust and understand basic sewing machine controls, change and understand the needle system, create successful seams , and understand seam allowance.
