Fluent City

Learning a language isn’t easy…but it sure is a lot easier, not to mention much more fun, when learning doesn’t feel like “school.” At Fluent City, learning French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Hebrew from our awesome and energetic professors feels more like hanging out with a new friend who knows another language and is really good at teaching it to you. Fluent City is your linguistic oasis!

How it Works

Most of our classes are 20 hours and meet 2 hours once a week for 10 weeks. Some classes, however, operate on slightly different schedules.

Each 20-hour class is a “level” (Level 1, Level 2, etc.) and most students choose to continue on to the next level at the end of the class. If you are an absolute beginner and/or wish to restart at the very beginning, you should choose a Level 1 class. Private lessons are also available for all languages and can be usually done at any time – weekdays, weeknights, or weekends. Private lessons usually follow the same trajectory as group classes, but are designed to turn your specific weaknesses into strengths. Either way, our classes are designed for New Yorkers with busy schedules who are ready to tackle the challenge of learning a new language in a productive and efficient yet fun way. Every single Fluent City class focuses on what we call getting it “off the page” and actually speaking the language.

The main Fluent City studio in Williamsburg is two blocks from the Graham L stop and we hold our Manhattan classes at various classrooms that we rent in the city. They are always at as convenient a location as possible, very close to major subway lines in Midtown and Soho/Tribeca.

All group classes cost $285 in Williamsburg and $325 in Manhattan.
