Students attending this class will focus on learning structured conversation and student interaction, students learn how to greet others in Portuguese, ask and answer questions about work, family, likes and dislikes, and others.
Practice, reinforce and improve your Portuguese pronunciation by learning the nasal sounds (m, n, nh, -ao)
In this course, students will learn to use the 2 different past tenses in Portuguese as well as express their opinions in those tenses.
In this segment, students continue to work on aspects of the Portuguese language that are most difficult for Spanish speakers, such as pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms and grammatical structures particular to Portuguese. They will also learn the 2 past tenses, imperative and present subjunctive.
Level 4 students are starting to understand how the major verb tenses work, are adding to their growing vocabulary, and are ready to gain confidence when speaking and using several different verb tenses.
This workshop gives you the extra practice needed to become more fluent in Portuguese!
In this course, students will move forward in learning Portuguese. Students will learn to use the imperative (formal and informal) and the Present Subjunctive.
Level 3 is for those who can confidently say a few sentences in the present tense and are a little bit familiar with how the main past tense works (Eu escutei, você comeu, etc.) and are ready to be introduced for the first time to more verb tenses such as the conditional (Eu limparia, você subiria, etc.) and how these verb tenses are used in everyday conversation.
Level 5 students might need a quick grammar refresher here and there, but are comfortable having a simple and basic conversation in Portuguese.
Taught in English. Level 1 is for those who want to start at the very beginning with Portuguese or for those who took a little bit of Portuguese in high school…but let’s be honest, you were passing notes. In 6-8 weeks, basic conversation, reading, listening and writing skills will be taught. Students learn regular verbs and some irregular verbs: to be, to have, to do, to go, etc.
Level 2 is for those who have studied Portuguese before, even if they aren't confident with what they know because it's been a while. Either way, you should sign up for a Level 2 class even if you need to review the extreme basics as the first class or two does just that.
Advanced Conversation Practice is for students who have completed Level 5 at Fluent City or the equivalent elsewhere.
