Developmental Intensive

Make your greatest ambition a polished–and published!–reality. Ideasmyth’s Developmental Intensive invites serious writers and creative professionals working in any genre and any form (memoirs, blogs, website copy, article pitch letters, screenplays, novels, one-person shows, poetry cycles, proposals, business plans, etc.) to prepare work for professional submission.

Each class opens with a mini-lecture on an element of craft, working habits or the marketplace. In three private coaching calls, we develop a personalized curriculum for the class, discussing recommended research/reading, goals for each class, and any other relevant career or lifestyle advice.

The workshop is unusual in that it addresses all aspects of producing quality writing—the challenges of craft AND of crafting a writer’s life—with rigor, pragmatism–and humor!

Class details:

• Eight in-person classes in NYC + ninth Class is Comped Admission and Priority Consideration for the Pitch-Palooza
• Three private phone or Skype coaching consultations (pre-class, midterm and completion)
• Most writers receive support for approx 12 weeks (classes plus private sessions)
• Clients can submit up to 4,500 words, (approximately 15 pages) per week, or up to 36,000 words (approximately 150 pages) per session
• Everyone submits work every Sunday @ 6pm prior to each Tuesday’s class (when it will be reviewed)
• Everyone must read and comment on all submitted work every week. The class is an intensive; be prepared to make a significant time commitment (an average of 3+ hours of reading/critiquing classmates’ work per week plus the recommended 6 hours a week you commit to your own writing sessions)
• Everyone participating in the final performance will receive performance coaching and a video of their reading for their own training purposes or website reel
