The Seeing Lab is a course to learn how to detect and read micro-expressions, small contractions of the facial muscles that last only tenths of a second, but give a window into what someone is feeling.
Ever talk with someone & get the feeling that there's something more they want to say? Maybe they said they were happy, but you noticed a tint of sadness. Or maybe they said were mad, and you noticed a hint of happiness.
In this course we'll use imaging software, the same kind used for training detectives and members of secret services, to do a pretest of your people-reading abilities. 2.5 hours later, your post-test scores will show you how much you've learned. Are you a natural at reading expressions? In this course you'll find out.
Results:
By learning how to notice and read facial & body micro-expressions, you'll become more compassionate, aware & intuitive. You will notice the beauty of mixed emotions and feel a big boost in your ability to cut through the clutter to figure out what truly matters to your conversation partner.
Scientific background:
This lab is based on Dr. LeeAnn Renninger's research on memory and the 5 senses, Paul Ekman's research on facial expressions, Karl Grammer's research on movement cues. There is a follow-up course available for advanced learners.
