What you'll learn in this meisner class:
The goal of the class is to develop and hone the actor's instincts so instead of working from their intellect they work from their gut. Please do not register for this class if you are not interested in completing my program. This class was created for serious acting students that are interested in working at a professional level.
Students interested in registering for these classes should take into consideration that these have been designed for students seeking ongoing training. This is not a workshop, drop-in or pay as you go situation but a more comprehensive program paid by the month.
Classes are intensive and my hands on approach allows me to guide students through all the stages of the technique. By maintaining small groups students get to work several times during the course of the class in an environment that is supportive and conducive to learning. In providing this type of atmosphere I am able to teach without taking the joy out of learning.
About the Meisner technique:The goal of the Meisner technique is to get each and every student to work truthfully and instinctively from themselves i.e. their own truthful point of view, i.e. to replace thinking with doing. By maintaining small groups students get to work several times during the course of the class in an environment that is supportive and conducive to learning.
Note: Please do not register for this class if you are not interested in completing my program. This class was created for serious acting students that are interested in working at a professional level.
Refund & Cancellation PolicyStudents are required to pay by the month i.e at the beginning of their 4 week cycle. If they miss a class they will be credited in the following month. There are no refunds. They are required to attend class to realize their credit. 24 hour notice is required if students are unable to make it to class. Failure to provide 24 hour notice will result in the forfeiture of credit.
Teacher: Alan Gordon
"I’m a Meisner-trained actor/teacher and I’ve been teaching actors privately and in classrooms for the past 25 years. My acting credits include principal appearances in Law & Order, Kiss of Death (opp. David Caruso), The City, and numerous plays and independent feature films. I have also produced, directed and acted in a number of Equity approved showcases. My approach to acting is process oriented with an emphasis on achieving truthful, specific behavior. Some of the areas covered in my classes include: building a character, creating urgency, working with subtext, beat changes. I think it is essential to create a positive atmosphere where students feel free to to take risks without fear of humiliation or reprisals. In a relaxed and supportive environment, they’re able to learn while they’re having fun."
