Finishing Workshop

Learn to how to beautifully finish your loving made knit and crochet items! Avoid the frustration of an imperfect seam or border with Annette's help. This two hour workshop will set you up for an easily crossed finish line!

HOMEWORK **To be completed BEFORE class**

Swatch #1

• With a light colored worsted weight yarn and size US 8 needle cast on 36 stitches.
• Knit 20 rows in garter stitch (knit every row).
• Change to stockinette stitch (purl one row, knit one row) for 20 rows. Make sure you end just having purled a row and looking at the knit side of your work
• Knit 14 stitches, bind off 8, place last bind off loop on left needle, knit 1, ssk, knit to end

• K1, ssk, knit to end
• Purl
• K1, ssk, knit to end

• K1, ssk, knit to end

• Bind off loosely.  Cut yarn.
• Attach yarn to other shoulder and knit until 3 sts remain, K2tog, K1
• Purl
• Knit until 3 sts remain, K2tog, K1

• Knit until 3 sts remain, K2tog, K1

• Knit until 3 sts remain, K2tog, K1
• Purl
• Bind off loosely.  Cut yarn.

Swatch #2

• Cast on 36 sts.
• Knit 20 rows in garter stitch.
• Switch to stockinette stitch until your swatch is as long as swatch #1.
• Bind off loosely.

• Yarn: 2 contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn (one in a small amount for sewing)
• Needles: US 8, US 6

Q&A

Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one?
A: No. There are no makeups allowed. You might be able to informally meet with the instructor but it would be up to the instructor. The school is very flexible with scheduling and attendance for our Beginning Knitting and Beginning Crochet courses; however, for intermediate level courses, they ask students commit to attending the scheduled sessions.

Q: Is there anything else I should be aware of to be prepared for class?
A: Some students like to have a pen and notebook available to take notes, but it is up to you. Any other materials they might need can be purchased at the school's store. There is also a convenience store next to the shop if students would like to have a beverage during class.
