Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this glass sculpture class:

In this introductory class students will create glass sculptures through the kilnforming techniques of fusing, slumping, and simple open-faced mold making.

The course begins with an introduction to the processes for fusing and slumping glass followed by the more extensive methods of mold making for kiln casting. Students will work on a variety of projects including a fuse wall tile, a slumped sculptural piece, and a 3 dimensional cast piece. There will be an open individual project at the end of the course for students wishing to experiment more with a specific technique. This intensive hands-on studio course will be complimented by a lecture on historical and contemporary artists who work with kiln formed glass.
