Content:

Morning

• Introduction to data. What are the data challenges of today, and how are we equipped to deal with them?
• Tools overview. From enterprise level software to open source libraries, what tools are available to today's data scientists?
• Hands-on. Attendees download, explore and visualize an open dataset — first with software tools, then using a specialist programming language to get deeper insight.

Afternoon

• Data on the web. We discuss the web's architecture and the role of APIs, while attendees get hands-on with a social media monitoring tool, running their own queries on real-time data.
• Data visualization. An overview of tools used to visualize data, whether you want to deepen insight or communicate a message to a specific audience — be that your customers, senior management or the general public.
• Showcase. Discuss best-in-class visualizations and visualization strategy, then get hands on with some of the more popular libraries currently being used by data scientists.
• Wrap-up. We end the day with everyone presenting their findings via an interactive web-based presentation.
