I was already expecting to learn and was committed but I didn't know I would have so much fun! The instructor was dynamite. She not only lead us through the steps but broke down technique and gave us a lot of useful information. The rough day I had earlier at work melted away in giggles and cupcakes. Thank you Butter Lane!

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

Class information should be upfront that each individual will NOT have the opportunity to make cupcakes from start to finish. Instead, four people take turns doing bits and parts. For example, person A will pour in flour, after which person B will turn on the Kitchen Aid mixer, after which person C will pour in vanilla extract, after which person D will crack in eggs, etc. You each do about 20% of the work, and most of the time you're standing around watching things happen. Pretty hands-off per person.

I had a lovely time at Butter Lane. The instructor ( I think her name was Diana) was informative and very patient. I loved the intimate setting, and I liked the idea of making 3 sorts of cupcakes, and participating with others. The icings were also fun to make, and a lot easier than I imagined. I got to take home 9 cupcakes in total, plus got to eat some while in class. The class ran on time, and everything was clean and organized. Thx.

It was fun! The instructor was really passionate about cupcakes...sometimes to a fault, being a bit exacting and unsmiling, and insisting that everything be done exactly her way. She didn't come across quite as light & fluffy as the cupcakes...but the class was fun and we still had a great time!

Attended: Cupcakes 201: Cupcake Decorating

I enjoyed the class. It was fun and the instructor was helpful. I like that we were able to practice the different techniques. I would suggest having the instructor create a design for one of our cupcakes that we would need to try. Other than that, it was a very great class. I enjoyed it.

This class was fantastic! So much fun and I learned a ton of new techniques. The small class size is perfect.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

Very expensive for what it is. 4 people per table, just to put some flour or sugar in a bowl...

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

It was fun, I really enjoyed it. Great interactions and a really helpful instructor. I look forward toy next class in two weeks!

Attended: Cupcakes 201: Cupcake Decorating

the class was a bit small, not much room to be comfy so not worth the money spent BUT was very fun and enjoyable considering the circumstances.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

It was very useful and learn how to bake cupcakes at Butter Lane. Vanessa is an excellent teacher!

Attended: Cupcake 101 (Park Slope)

Took home a dozen yummy cupcakes made from scratch and not only were we given the recipes for our two flavors but we were also given a third recipe for banana cupcakes. The teacher was great thus so was the class!

Attended: Cupcake 101 (Park Slope)

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Really enjoyed the class and the best part was that we got to keep recipes! Thanks so much!

Attended: Cupcake 101 (Park Slope)

I enjoyed everything about this class. This was my first time making cupcake and it was fun. Butter Lane cupcakes was a nice and clean venue. Our instructor, Vanessa, did an awesome job in teaching and answering our questions.

This class teaches you the basics in baking your own cupcakes.

The teacher at Butter Lane, Olivia, was great--enthusiastic and knowledgeable. However, while the shop had AC, it simply wasn't cool enough in the store, and in addition to being uncomfortably warm, the buttercream suffered--it got very oily-looking and melty. By the time we got around to decorating our cupcakes (six of them :-), the frosting looked really unappealing. In fact I think we would all have preferred fresh frosting at that point. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this class during the summer.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

I loved this hands-on class. We worked in groups to make everything from scratch and got to take home boxes of our freshly baked and frosted cupcakes at the end. Our instructor Olivia was really friendly and gave us very clear directions each step of the way, plus pro-tips like "put this raspberry frosting on your banana cupcakes and pretend its a healthy smoothie every morning." =) Overall it was a really fun evening and I definitely recommend the class!

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

This was a great baking class. Fun, and also very informative. Our instructor, Olivia, had a nice pace that kept us on track, but didn't make us feel rushed. She was also very sweet and helpful. Getting to try three different cupcake recipes and 6 different icings was awesome :)

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

I had a blast at this cupcake baking class! The instructor was friendly and helpful and the other people taking the class were friendly as well. I'm actually interested in taking this class again with a bunch of friends! I highly recommend this class.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

Not only did I get to learn the art of making cupcakes the Butterlane way, but also got a huge goodie box of yumminess to take home! The instructor was amazing...super sweet and high-energy...exactly the kind of gal you'd want teaching you to make cupcakes! Definitely recommend as a fun evening out with the girls, or as a way to perfect your baking skills!

Most of the participants in the class found out about it through CourseHorse. We waited about 20 minutes for other participants who had signed up, which I wish we hadn't done (they were late! start without!), but that's more so feedback for the instructors. The class was held at Butter Lane, an adorable and accessibly venue in the LES. It was interactive and casual, and the teachers even brought wine, which was a great way to meld the class participants prior to starting time. All in all it was a good experience, and signing up with CourseHorse was a cinch. Will definitely be using it again in the future. Thanks!

This baking class was fun! It was in a nice spot in the city next to a cupcake place and was very clean. Tea&Jam did a great job of having a comfortable intimate atmosphere and were so friendly. They introduced themselves and answered all our questions. The recipe was easy to follow and we all had a great time talking about healthy baking and each had a turn in doing the process. In the end the miscuits as they are called came out so delicious! I can't wait to attend thewir future classes!

This was an amazing class. We iced & took all 3 cupcakes home. I have a new found love of baking..as far as cupcakes go lol.

Great class! Had lots of fun. Very friendly teacher and cupcakes were really yummy. Looking forward to checking out these cool recipes at home, should work perfectly with the tips given during the class

This class left a bad taste in my mouth. I had prepaid spot reserved. My subway line was having issues so I arrived a little late, about 10 minutes. I admit that arriving late isn't great, but they ended up giving away my spot prior to my arrival! I got no call, and since I already paid, they should not have given it away. When I arrived, the teacher became flustered. She set up a stool, that was too high for the table and made my knees bump into the table, and disappeared for 15minutes to get my supplies. I think she was actually making the frosting for the cupcakes. This deprived others students of about 15 minutes of instruction. It didn't matter anyway, as the class did not require the entire 2 hours. I wish she had taught more about decorating. For instance, she did not show up how to put frosting on the cake so it would be smooth or do anything very advanced. Overall, a disappointing class.

This course was great, my wife her sister and i enjoined and learned so many tricks

Attended: Couples Cupcakes Class

It was fun and laid back. All of the couples were pretty cool and conversation flowed. The instructor was knowledgeable. One recommendation would be to create icebreakers or some type of creative activity during the downtime when the instructor went to the other room (which occurred 2-3 times). Overall, a fun date night.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

i love to bake but have never taken a class for it. Awesome to hear tips from a professional baker and get questions answered about some basic techniques. you share the work station and mixer with up to 3 people, but everyone participates in the process. I met some fun, interesting people. and by the end had a much better handle on making frosting and variations of frosting. i enjoyed the class and plan to go back for a more advanced session.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

I thought it was great. It was the perfect Sat morning activity. Damian was really understanding of us newbies and he took time to repeat instructions. This experience makes me want to take a one-on-one course.

Attended: Cupcakes 201: Cupcake Decorating

This class provided a great introduction to cupcake decorating! The instructor was extremely thorough and took the time to help everyone perfect their technique using the various frosting tips. In this course we learned how to color the frosting, write our name and create leaves, rosettes, daisies, shell borders, stripes, and basket weaves. It was a fun and entertaining class, and I highly recommend it!

This was my first class that myself and my boyfriend took together we enjoyed it very much any couple would have a great time it brought us closer together where we are thinking of taking another class together. I would definetely recommend it.

Attended: Cupcakes 201: Cupcake Decorating

We loved the class. Me and my daughter (who is 12) enjoyed every aspect of the session. We learned a lot. The teacher was wonderful. She was caring, attentive, and available to answer our questions. We had a wonderful time.

Class was great! I needed a refresh on decorating skills. Crystal was very informative and took the time to help everyone out. I had fun!

Attended: Cupcakes 201: Cupcake Decorating

I registered my daughter and her friend for the course. They had a great time.

Attended: Cupcake 101 (East Village)

I took two of my friends to this class as a holiday gift and we all had a great time! The teacher was extremely experienced with a lot of knowledge and helpful tricks to share. She created a laid back atmosphere that made the class not only informative, but also fun and entertaining. One of my friends is a bit more advanced with baking, so I was nervous that he wouldn't learn much or that class would be too elementary for him. To my relief, after the class he pointed out some new tricks he learned and tips he hadn't known. Even better, the other friend won the cupcake icing contest and walked away with a $15 gift card to the bakery. Luckily, even those of us less skilled walked away with a complimentary coffee/tea, 4 cupcakes, and left over icing. Not only informative and fun, but also YUM!!
