What you'll learn in this business writing class:Students attending this class will learn how to brush up on the fundamentals of Business Writing through a combination of fast paced lectures and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what you've just learned.
The One-Day Intensives are fun, fast-paced immersions in a type of writing. You’ll get a mixture of brief lectures that hit the high-points and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what you’ve just learned. The one-days provide an excellent overview of their fields, ideal for both the beginner and someone wanting a quick refresher course.
If writing is an important part of your job, it’s time you spend an afternoon learning how to do it better and faster. Through lectures and in class writing exercises, this workshop covers business writing basics including how to organize, format, and write effective letters and memos; a clear explanation of common grammar and punctuation mistakes and tips for avoiding them; email strategies that save time and increase impact; and much more.
Prerequisite: Students must speak and write in English with native fluency.
About Business Writing Classes:
Cancellation PolicyTo receive a refund or credit, a student must withdraw by written notification mailed or faxed to us. Refunds and credits are determined by the day that faxed notification is received. The postmark is used when the notice is mailed. Failure to attend classes or notifying the instructor does not constitute official withdrawal. If you withdraw from a course at least two business days before the first class meeting, you are entitled to a full credit toward another Gotham class (including the $25 registration fee) valid for one year or refund less an administrative fee of $25 and the $25 registration fee.
If you withdraw from a course at least two business days before the second class meeting, you are entitled to a Gotham credit toward another class (not a refund) of the amount you paid less the $25 registration fee and less a prorated amount for the first class meeting. Credits are valid for one year and can not be changed into refunds.
No refunds will be given one business day prior to the first class meeting or thereafter; no credits will be given one business day prior to the second class meeting or thereafter. Refunds take up to six weeks to process.

STEPHANIE PATERIK is a media consultant for companies, authors, and magazines, and a freelance writer and poet whose work has appeared in PARADE, Glamour, Adweek, The Arizona Republic, and The Best American Poetry blog, among many others. She is a former staff writer for the Wall Street Journal and the former managing editor of PHOENIX magazine. She has taught at Arizona State University. She holds a BA in journalism from Arizona State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School.
