Class Review: Wine Sense for the Wine Dense with Vino-Versity

Unlock the mysteries of wine! Join Shari Schneider as she takes you on an adventure of discovery in her class “Wine Sense for the Wine Dense.”

Why do people swirl their wine? Are there really hints of raspberry, chocolate, oak and dried sage in your glass? What’s the deal with a cork vs. screw cap? How do I find out what kind of wine I like?

These are only some of the questions answered in “Wine Sense for the Wine Dense,” taught by Shari Schneider, dean and founder of Vino-Versity.

As a former restaurateur and wine bar owner, Shari enjoyed teaching her customers about wine to help them become less intimidated by wine tasting and experimenting. Her passion lead to the creation of Vino-Versity, a wine shop with frequent wine classes and tastings to help educate the world about wine. “Wine Sense for the Wine Dense” covers everything from wine terminology and how wine is made to the differences between types of grapes. The coolest part? Shari promises that after this class, “you will be able to read any article in any magazine about wine, and actually understand it.” She recommends this course for beginner and even intermediate wine drinkers who have wine knowledge, but can’t seem to connect all the wine jargon they’ve heard over the years.

Students of Shari are often shocked by how involved the wine process is, down to the molecules. Throughout the class, students gain the knowledge and the confidence needed to order the perfect wine with their meal at restaurants. One wine class rookie, Joyce Kunz, wasn’t sure what to expect but was happily surprised: “There’s so much wine terminology, and even in just this pretty short period of time, they kind of give you a familiarity. I learned a lot of very useful information in a very short period of time.” She plans to take more wine classes in the future.

Overall, “Wine Sense for the Wine Dense” is a fun, incredibly informative, and professionally structured class that any wine drinker would benefit from and enjoy!
